Exact replica casts of tropical butterfly species in pupae form

Exotic butterfly exhibits usually limit viewer interaction during the pupae stage of development to viewing chrysalides behind a glass containment wall.
Put exact replica casts of the chrysalides into the hands of your visitors and you provide a much deeper exhibit experience. Physically holding and manipulating the casts allows visitors to personally compare and contrast size, form, and texture of each chrysalis. This teaching tool helps interpreters point out some of the minute differences in structure that allow us to recognize and classify butterflies during this stage.
Additionally, each chrysalis is paired with a photograph (to scale) of the butterfly in its adult form. Visitors will not only be able to make a clearer "mental leap" between developmental stages, they will also be able to observe the differences in and among species.
